Monroe County Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES)

The BOCES system was created by the New York State Legislature in 1948 to encourage school districts to pool and share resources. Schools receive BOCES aid from the state to encourage them to cooperate with one another. Member districts share in the administrative costs of BOCES, and each member school districtโ€™s board of education must approve the administrative budget.

Monroe One is one of 38 Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) operating throughout New York State. Monroe One is located in the Town of Perinton, a suburb southeast of Rochester, New York. Monroe One is a cooperative extension of the ten Monroe County suburban school districts on the east side of Rochester and also serves 134 school districts from 12 neighboring counties in western New York. Monroe One offers more than 80 programs and services for more than 46,000 students in ten component school districts.
